Then, with help of an electric cutter, we cut template. It will be of great help to create okume board. We have used this practical tool. But if you do not have it, you can do work with a manual or scissors. We present template on okume board and mark outline with a marker. Next step is to cut okume board that will make seat base of chair that we are renovating.
To perform this task, we will use saw jig and a special blade for curved cuts in wood. Next, with drill and a wood drill, we will hole lath. We put a martyr to protect table and prevent wood from splintering. Now, with jigsaw and a wood blade, we cut ribbon in two. Both pieces will serve to fix base of seat to chair. Next, we passed sander equipped with a medium-grain sanding sheet all over wooden surface. We clean all pieces well. It’s time to glue slats on bottom of okume base. We apply assembly adhesive on parts. And fix them in their position. Now, we cut foam with jigsaw and a blade suitable for this type of materials. To do this work, we will adjust skate of saw to 45º. Next step is to shape piece of foam rubber.
To do this, we will go over surface with a barbed brush, until we achieve desired result. Then, we put adhesive on piece of okume and paste foam. We let product harden. Next, we put fabric composed of floca and calico well spread on table and place base of seat on it. Then, we go nailing a few tacks with help of a special hammer for upholstery work while we tense fabric. We start at center and towards sides. When we have covered all sides, we remove tacks one by one, tensing and stapling at same time. We cut excess fabric. It’s turn of cloth. We cut piece we need to cover seat.
